The first snow has fallen, and with it the preparations for the Varaždin Advent have begun, which officially starts at the end of this week, on Friday, November 28.
We will encounter the already well-known Advent magic, but this year the city of Varaždin will also offer us some new attractions.
The famous Santa Claus’s Magical Town will once again delight children, as well as all those who still carry a child within themselves. There you will find, of course, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, who will gladly tell you an interesting story or two. Be sure to peek into the Grinch’s Cave and discover everything that stands inside the Magical Town have to offer.
You can also expect various workshops for children held daily, while for older visitors, a baking & wine workshop will take place on Thursday evenings (registration is required).
Santa Claus’s Magical Town is located in the courtyard of the Sermage Palace, open on weekdays and weekends from 10 AM to 9 PM, with a slightly different schedule for Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day:
Christmas: 4 PM – 9 PM
New Year’s Eve: 10 AM – 1 PM
New Year’s Day: 1 PM – 9 PM
This year’s Advent sensation will be none other than Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, leading Santa’s sleigh. To meet Santa Claus, you must enter the magical lift and discover the path from Varaždin to the North Pole, offering an extraordinary view of the baroque palaces, churches and streets of Varaždin’s historic center, illuminated by millions of sparkling lights.
You can enjoy Rudolph’s magical flight from December 8 to January 6 at 4:30 PM, while the magical lift will run between November 28 and January 6 at various times.
On Varaždin’s Korzo, besides the smell of mulled wine and various delicacies, you will be able to enjoy a rich music program featuring Jakov Jozinović, Luka Nižetić, Nina Badrić, and many others.
If you wish to satisfy your taste buds, head to Stančić Square, where a wide range of gastronomic delights awaits. And if you love perfect photos, you will definitely be able to take them there.
You’ve surely already heard that the largest ice park in Croatia is located right here in Varaždin. It is situated at Kapucinski Square, covering 1,900 m², and is easy to find and enjoy!
Don’t miss the panoramic view of Varaždin and the pleasant ride on the Advent Ferris Wheel, and if you want to return to your childhood, on the Korzo you will find the beloved retro carousel, guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
