Public transportation

Public transportation in Zagreb offers different options.Zagreb’s public transportation system is called ZET, short for Zagrebački Električni Tramvaj. It is made up primarily of buses and trams that go throughout the city and extend beyond to neighboring cities including Velika Gorica where the airport is located.The system is extensive with 19tram lines and 117 buses. Plus Zagreb is a very walkable city, so you can easily live or visit without a car.

Funicular

Cable car for the Upper Town is the oldest means of transport of the organized public transport in Zagreb. It connects the Lower and the Upper Town every working day, on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 6:30 a.m. till 10 p.m.! It runs every ten minutes and the price of one ride is HRK 5. If needed, passengers can order an emergency ride which costs HRK 25.

Source: zet.hr When compared to other cable railways in the public transport, the Zagreb cable car is the shortest in the world with the length of the track of just 66 meters. Since it has kept till today its original appearance, construction and the most of the original technical characteristics, the Zagreb cable car is under protection as a cultural monument.

Prices

Paper tickets may be purchased in ZET’s ticket offices or at kiosks (Tisak, iNovine). From 1st of April 2019, the tickets that can be bought from the driver. There are tickets worth 6 HRK wich are valid 30 min, then tickets at the price 10 HRK wich are valid 60 min and tickets worth 15 HRK, wich are valid 90 minutes in one way and in one tariff zone, and daily tickets. Tickets at the price of 6 and 10 HRK are valid only in the first tariff zone. These prices refer to purchase from the driver.

Source: poslovni.hr; zet.hr Each individual zone requires the appropriate paper ticket for the ride.For a ride within the first or second zone during daytime transport, they offer paper tickets at the price of HRK 4.00, which is valid for 30 minutes, paper tickets at the price of HRK 7.00, which is valid for 60 minutes, as well as paper tickets which cost HRK 10.00 and are valid for 90 minutes. Paper ticket is valid for travel in one direction only and the ticket has to be cancelled immediately upon boarding the vehicle.All-day fare costs HRK 30.00 and it is valid for rides made within the area of the City of Zagreb, i.e. within the first zone.

Source: cityportal.hr Machines for cancelling paper tickets are installed near the first door of the vehicle, whereas in low-floor trams they are also installed at the rear door. Zagreb Public Transportation is free if you buy ZagrebCard. You can also Rent-a-Tram for special rides.

Pleso Transport

Pleso Transport reffers to the trasportation from Zagreb Airport to Zagreb City and vice versa. You can easily find their office at the Bus Station. The bus towards Zagreb Airport leaves from the Main Bus Terminal.

Source: autobusi.org; plesoprijevoz.hr All passengers who want to use their service on the route: Main Bus Terminal - Zagreb Airport, from any side of the city, can easily come with trams 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 or by car (Main Bus Terminal parking lot). This is only 10 minute walk away from Main Railway Station and city center. Waiting room - terminal for outgoing /incoming buses is located on the north side of Bus Terminal building. Bus ticket is purchased from the driver on the bus before departure. One-way ticket costs 30 HRK, and daily two-way ticket costs 40 HRK.Check the timetable here. The buses are of high tourist-class, air-conditioned and comfortable, and the personnel will make sure with its professionalism, that your journey is easy, fast and secure. Driving from the airport takes 30 minutes. Our recommendation is that in a time of major traffic jams around the city center (15-17 pm), you start 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
