Prepare your mask, it's Samobor Carnival party time!

Just 25km west from Zagreb, there is a beautiful picturesque town Samobor, most popular Zagreb weekend one-day destination for century. The best time to visit Samobor is during the Samobor Carnival, when town becomes the Carnival republic for more then two weeks. Samobor Carnivalhas a long standing tradition of respectable 190 years and it is one of the Croatian best known place for fun and laughter. Last day of Samobor Carnival, Shrove Tuesday - last day of unlimited food and drink before the 40 days of Lent period, big festival parade with masks that mocks current political situation in Croatia takes place on the streets. After the parade doll of Prince Carnival is blamed for everything bad and burned on the main square. Plus big fireworks above. And while you are in Samobor you must try local gastro delights like kremšnita (custard slice), muštarda (grape mustard sauce) and bermet (dessert wine with fruit and herbs).
