Meet the City
Rovinj is a city in Croatia located on the north Adriatic Sea, on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. It is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. It is interesting that the city is officially billingual: Italian and Croatian, hence both town names are equal and official: Rovinj and Rovigno. The city itself has very interesting history: it was a settlement of Venetian or Illyrian tribes, captured by Romans, incorporated into the Byzantine Empire, was part of the Austrian Empire, then belonged to the Kingdom of Italy, and finally part of Croatia.

Down the history path
Rovinj is a small town with a lot of sights. First take a walk through the Old Town. The historic centre is small, full of cobblestone streets. Take a cup of coffee in some of the cafes and enjoy the view. The most famous symbol of Rovinj is the City Palace, once the Praetorian Palace. It dates back to 1308 and it is recognizable for it´s red facade. Rovinj used to be surrounded with city walls and had even seven gates. On the former main gate now stands the Balbi´s Arch. Town Clock was built in the 17th century and you can find it on the main square. Back in the days, it represented the tower on the south corner of the town walls, with a prison below it for minor offenders.

The interior is simply amazing and the view from the tower will leave you speechless. As you go down to the port you can enjoy beautiful view of the famous, painted houses, fishers in action, boats, sea... picture perfect. Along the sea have lunch and (or ) dinner in some of the finest Croatian restaurants.

Life is better at the beach
Rovinj offers some of the most beautiful beaches: Lone Bay Beach, Monte Beach, Katarina Island, Amarin and Cuvi Beach. Lone Bay Beach is just a short walk from the city cetre. It has turquoise water and a bit rocky shore and offers beautiful view across Rovinj´s skyline. You can also explore the surroundings by bikes or boats. Monte Beach is for those who want to have a little escape, but still close to the town walls. Katarina Island is one of the most beautiful islands in the Rovinj archipelago. Besides the beach it has vineyards and olive trees. Amarin Beach is ideal for families and Cuvi Beach is surrounded by pine forest and is just 3 km for the city of Rovinj.
