There are a lot of varieties of locally made drinks throughout Croatia, from beers and wines to fruit brandies, one of them is so called rakija. Rakija is the collective term for fruit brandy popular in the Balkans. There are various flavours. Common ones arešljivovica(produced fromplums),kajsija (produced fromapricots), andgrozdovača orlozovača/komovica(produced fromgrapes).Fruits less commonly used arepeaches,apples,pears,cherries,figs,blackberries, andquince.

Some types of rakia are kept in wooden barrels for extra aroma and a golden color.t is supposed to be drunk from special small glasses which hold from 30 to 50 ml.
