Only 3 hours away from the capital of Croatia, you'll find the scenery that will really relax you – National park Krka.
Only 3 hours away from the capital of Croatia (if you go by car, of course), you'll find the scenery that will really relax you – both body and mind. In such a peaceful yet somehow wild nature you'll find a new meaning of relaxation. The National park Krka we are speaking about is big natural park rich in waterfalls, vegetation and endemic animal species.
The most visited parts of National park Krka are Skradinski buk (location consisted of lakes and islands) and Roški slap – the waterfall. Both locations are very attractive to visitors and the fact that the place offers gastronomic pleasures makes them even more attractive. Another location that is also often visited by tourists is the island Visovac (you may go by ship since routes are well organized). The island is home for Fransiscan monks who live in a monastery which keeps valuable books and ancient writings.

You may take one of the few routes by foot. One of the popular route is educational one that takes you to the Oziđana cave. It keeps its natural appearance, but the “interior” is transformed into archaeological museum. Tourists who are even more interested in archaeology may visit Burnum – ancient Roman military camp. The location preserves military amphitheatre and wall remnants. Roman weapons, tools and other excavations found in Burnum are presented in Puljani museum.

National park Krka is open for visits throughout the year. Keep in mind that the park is huge (it has 109 km²) and some parts interesting for visiting are distant and divided by natural barriers. Some parts are connected by ship and other locations can be visited by car. If you wish, you may stay few days at Krka. In that case, we recommend taking a ticket for several days. The park offers you great gastronomic experience, accomodation and a souvenir shop. Also, you may learn more about ethnology of this part of Croatia.
