Are you a rookie, skilled or expert when it comes to Night of Museums?
Depending on the number of years/times that you so far visited Night of Museums we made 3 programs for edition 2016. Which level are you?
1.For Rookie (0-2 times)
You never attend Night of Museum or have max 2 years experiance? You are a rookie. For new players in Night of Museum the best program is to stick with classic and popular museums. First stop is Museum of arts and crafts (Trg maršala Tita 10) with permanent collection and 5 temporary exhibitions. From there go to the Archeological museum (Trg Nikole Šubića Zrinskog 19) where you can see Zagreb mummy,make a selfie with Solinjanka and take a 3D glasses tour of the Aqua Iasae exhibition. You are done with Downtown so move to Upper Town and go to unique Croatian museum of naive art (Sv. Ćirila i Metoda 3) where you can learn more about glass painting technique. Next is Atelier Ivan Meštrović (Mletačka 8) with works from famous Croatian sculptor. After it, go to Zagreb City museum (Opatička 20) – classic tourist spot with excellent display of Zagreb history. Then make last stop at Gallery Klovićevi dvori (Jezuitski trg 4) where DJ music program will be organized until 01:00h. Dance hard to the end!
2.For Skilled (3-6 times)
You have experiance in museum nights, classic tourist museums are not your league any more? Your first stop in Night of Museums is Memorial center Dražen Petrović (Trg Dražen Petrović 3) where you can learn more about one of the greatest Croatian and world basketball player. Croatian state archives (Marulićev trg 21), second stop, is located in characteristic Art Nouveau building, and during the Night of Museum you can take a tour of the building. From there head to Typhlological museum (Draškovićeva 80/II) – one of the rare special museums in Europe dealing with the problems of disabled persons. From there go to Gallery Center Cvjetni (Trg Petra Preradovića 6) where you can see collection of contemporary Croatian art scene. Another unique place on your itinerary is Educational center of mushrooms (Trg bana Josipa Jelačića 3) with exactly 1238 species of mushrooms. The last but not the least is Glyptotheque (Medvedgradska 2) with exhibition about erotica in works of famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović. And there is jazz/French chanson concert from 22.00h to 23:30h. Good intro for friday night out!
3.For Expert (6 times and more)
You are tested and approved museum buff and culture is your middle name? You always want something special on sideway? Try with Tošo Dabac archive (Ilica 17) – collection of one of the most important and most diverse Croatian photographer. Then go to Memorial apartment of Marija Juric Zagorka (Dolac 8) – Croatian first female journalist and writer of famous novels. From there next stop is near HT museum (Jurišićeva 13). Museum preserves the objects from the history of the post, telecommunications and philately. Oris-house of architecture (Kralja Držislava 3) is place for the promotion of architecture and beside exhibitions there is a club restaurant Voncimer with unique chairs donated by architects from all parts of the world. Department of prints and drawings ( Trg J.J.Strossmayera 12) presents Nada Falout collection of theatre posters. And just block away is Rental and worshop of folk costumes (Ulica baruna Trenka 1) where you can see old national costumes from all parts of Croatia. After it, you are near the city centre for musem night sequel in bars and clubs. Or you can go straight to bed…
